The NBA is taking all the precautions possible in order to keep their bubble environment in Orlando both safe and secure, but one superstar thinks that his fellow players may not exactly cooperate too well.
On Wednesday, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard said he was not confident that players would strictly abide by the rules for safety in the bubble.
“My confidence ain’t great,” Lillard said, per Royce Young of ESPN. “My confidence ain’t great because you’re telling me you’re gonna have 22 teams full of players following all the rules? When we have 100 percent freedom, everybody don’t follow all the rules. I don’t have much confidence. But hopefully it’ll be handled to a point where we’re not putting everybody at risk or in a dangerous position.”
The league recently issued an exhaustive 113-page rulebook detailing health and safety protocols for the bubble. While players will not be prohibited from exiting the Disney World complex, they will be subject to a strict quarantine procedure upon their return. Outside guests will also not be allowed on the campus until the first round of the playoffs.
The rigid rules are obviously necessary, especially with the number of positive cases in Florida currently increasing at an alarming rate. But others have already argued why it is unlikely that the players will comply, and Lillard certainly seems to agree.
