The Dallas Mavericks have now entered into the consolation portion of their offseason program.
According to a report by Marc Stein of ESPN on Sunday, guard Deron Williams has agreed to re-sign with the Mavericks on a one-year deal worth $10 million.

The 32-year-old Williams averaged 14.1 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game, and 5.8 assists per game for Dallas last year. Williams was originally scheduled to make $5.6 million in 2016-17, but chose to decline his player option and will now return to the team at a more lucrative salary.
Though a three-time NBA All-Star, Williams hasn’t looked the part for quite some time now. He can’t be tasked to run an offense full-time anymore, and the injury risk is always enduring. But Williams showed some spring in his step in a more auxiliary capacity last season and should still be a workable option at the point guard position with the market quickly drying up and the Mavericks ultimately failing to land their top free agent targets this summer.
