DiJonai Carrington is apparently trying to turn Saturday’s incident on the court into a racial issue.
The Chicago Sky guard Carrington was ejected from Saturday’s game against the Indiana Fever for a flagrant 2 foul. In the first quarter at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Ill., Carrington smacked Cunningham right in the head and neck area while attempting to prevent a layup attempt by Cunningham in transition (see the video here).
While the game was still going on, Carrington took to her Threads page to vent about the incident. At halftime of the Fever-Sky game, Carrington posted an inflammatory message.
“WHITE PRIVILEGE @IndianaFever,” Carrington wrote.

It is unclear what exactly Carrington’s argument was as that was about as textbook of a flagrant 2 foul as possible (with the wind-up, the impact, and the follow-through). Perhaps Carrington was upset that Cunningham did not a get technical foul after popping up to confront her or perhaps she was simply trying to create a diversion from her own bad behavior.
In any case, Carrington, a six-year veteran who is averaging 10.3 points per game this season, has a history of playing the victim. Last year, Carrington was also in the news for complaining about her treatment from the refs.
