Dwight Howard to Shaq: Sit Down and Get On with Your Life
There is no athlete or former athlete in the world who loves attention more than Shaquille O’Neal. Everything the four-time NBA champion does seems like it is for show. Whether it’s writing an obnoxious book or announcing his retirement through an internet video as part of a business venture, Shaq is always up to something.
Over the past couple of years, one of Shaq’s favorite hobbies has been ragging on Dwight Howard. It’s probably a combination of jealousy and Dwight being a punching bag that creates a solid amount of buzz, but Howard has grown understandably annoyed of hearing from Big Daddy Diesel.
“(Shaq should) just sit down and get on with his life,” Howard said Friday according to the Orlando Sentinel when asked about Shaq calling Andrew Bynum the NBA’s best center. “What’s the point of talking trash? He’s mad about Superman. I didn’t know he made it up. I didn’t know Superman came from Shaquille O’Neal.”
Howard also pointed out that it is Shaq’s job now as an analyst for TNT to get people “riled up.” As we know, Shaq doesn’t need to be a TNT analyst to do that. In the past, O’Neal has complained about Howard never having to deal with double teams and voiced his opinion about the league having less competition now than it did when he played.
I’m not the biggest Howard fan, but I couldn’t have said it any better. Shaq needs to get over the fact that Howard draws comparisons to him and move on with his life. Then again, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
