Agent Zero may soon be headed to primetime.
Retired former NBA guard Gilbert Arenas revealed on a YouTube livestream this week that he is currently in talks with NBC about a broadcasting gig. The move comes with NBC set to resume coverage of the NBA beginning in the 2025-26 season (after a hiatus of almost two-and-a-half decades).
“I had a meeting with NBC,” said Arenas, per Awful Announcing. “They’re doing their show for next season … and they’re still auditioning and interviewing other guests that could be a part of the show. So I had my meeting, and the perspective that they’re coming from is crazy.

“Even if I don’t get the job, the fact that I’m even in the running,” Arenas added. “Somebody’s brought me up to the point where they’re sitting down having an 8 o’clock meeting, I’m really grateful for that.”
The 43-year-old Arenas seems to be referencing NBC’s impending studio show for their NBA coverage, which is still taking shape but would presumably parallel TNT’s “Inside the NBA” or ESPN’s “NBA Countdown.” NBC recently tabbed a 10-time NBA All-Star to join their studio coverage, and now Arenas, a three-time All-Star himself, could be the next one to sign on.
Arenas, who last played in the NBA in 2012, has since gone into podcasting and hosts his own show “Gil’s Arena,” which airs on YouTube and is produced by Underdog Fantasy Sports. He is known for having very humorous and outspoken opinions, which have sometimes led to backlash. If NBC does end up hiring Arenas, he will definitely get people to tune in, for better or for worse.
