Hassan Whiteside Twitter DM about Lakers likely fake
Some Twitter DMs (direct message) purportedly sent by Hassan Whiteside that would indicate plans to sign with the Lakers had people freaking out on Monday night, but there are plenty of reasons to believe that they were just fake.
A Twitter account called “genocideblacks,” who in their profile advertised themselves as a “Black Lives Matter and avid Trump fan,” which just cancels out right there, sent out screenshots of what they claimed were Twitter DMs from Hassan Whiteside. In the supposed DM conversation, the Whiteside character said he was “moving to LA area pretty soon.”
You can see the screenshots below:

Of course, these Twitter screenshots had people freaking out because Whiteside is a free agent and being aggressively pursued by the Lakers (not to mention that if he were moving to LA, it wouldn’t be unlike many other NBA players who do so for a few months during the offseason).
While it’s true that Whiteside may end up signing with the Lakers, there is plenty of reason to believe these messages are phonies.
First off, the person who shared those screenshots already deleted their account. Secondly, the picture used in the profile is of a model, which is a sign of a catfish/fake account
@genocideblacks @Lefty_Leif by "your type" do you mean other obviously fake twitter accounts? pic.twitter.com/1DjgLEKSrm

Lastly, as someone astutely pointed out, one screenshot came from a phone with AT&T service, while the next showed Sprint service:
@genocideblacks @BSO explain how you have AT&T in this screenshot you took but have sprint in this one, fake af. pic.twitter.com/zvoyAkwFY6

All of this put together points to some doctored messages.
