Jimmy Butler appears to respond to shade from Wiggins’ brother
‘Tis the season for pettiness in the NBA, apparently.
Word came out on Wednesday that Jimmy Butler is seeking a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves. In response to the news, Nick Wiggins, the brother of Minnesota swingman Andrew Wiggins, seemed to celebrate. His tweet, which has since been deleted, said “hallelujah.” It also had a smiling emoji.

In response, Butler posted a video of himself working out. At the end of a running drill, he lifted his arms in the air and said, “Hallelujah.” He also used the same emojis used by Wiggins’ brother.

Yup, that seemed to be a pretty clear response. Keep in mind that a report last year said Butler had issues with Wiggins.
Butler, who will be a free agent after next season, reportedly has his eye on three potential teams, with the Los Angeles Clippers said to be his top target. He appears to want a trade to a team where he would be interested in signing a long-term extension. By joining a new team now, that franchise would have his Bird rights and be able to offer him a full max contract extension worth significantly more than if he were to sign with the same team after spending the 2018-19 season with Minnesota.
