Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick went off on his team Tuesday in their Game 2 first-round series win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena.
The Timberwolves, who trailed 58-43 at halftime, came out of the break looking like the more motivated team. Minnesota began the third quarter on an 8-4 run, starting with a vicious Anthony Edwards poster dunk.
With the Lakers looking lackluster midway through the quarter, Redick had had enough. The Lakers coach called a timeout and berated his players as they returned to the huddle.
“Time out. What the f— is going on? Jesus f—ing Christ, what the f— are you guys doing? Come on!” Redick screamed.
"Time out. What the f*ck is going on. Jesus f*cking Christ, what the f*ck are you guys doing. Come on!"

NBA reporter Rachel Nichols asked Redick about the moment after the game. The Lakers coach said that he wanted to “get that urgency button switched on” for his team.
Redick’s tough love immediately paid off as the Lakers went on a 7-0 run following the timeout. Los Angeles’ lead never dipped below nine the rest of the way as the home team coasted to a 94-85 victory.
After the Lakers’ 117-95 loss in Game 1, Redick stated that his team had failed to match the physicality that the Timberwolves brought in the series opener. The purple and gold took Redick’s challenge to heart in Game 2, out-rebounding their opponents 41-34 and limiting them to their lowest-scoring output of the season.
