Joel Embiid focused on his conditioning, has given up Krispy Kreme donuts
Joel Embiid is making the tough decisions that he needs to this summer as a franchise cornerstone.
Appearing this week on “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” Philadelphia 76ers part-owner Michael Rubin discussed the All-Star center Embiid’s recent focus on his conditioning and how he has given up one particular sweet of choice.
“He used to love Krispy Kreme donuts, but he’s over that,” said Rubin. “He’s very focused on his conditioning.
“Joe is determined,” added Rubin about Embiid. “I talked to him a few days ago. He’s on a mission, I think he’s on a mission.”
Embiid, who posted a monster 27.3 points and 13.6 rebounds per game last season, is notorious for his poor diet, which may be the one thing holding him back from truly incinerating the entire league. At seven feet and 249 pounds with a long injury history, it would indeed be in the 25-year-old’s best interest to get in better shape, and cutting out the original glazed is a pretty good start. Plus, after seeing what this man cut out to get into great shape, Embiid should have extra motivation.
