Karl-Anthony Towns explains his viral moment with Michael Jordan

Karl-Anthony Towns is explaining a recent video that made it seem like the Kentucky-North Carolina rivalry was alive and well.

During All-Star Weekend in Cleveland, a viral video showed retired NBA legend Michael Jordan going out of his way to embrace Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. When the Minnesota Timberwolves center Towns then approached Jordan though, His Airness appeared to largely blow him off.

In a Twitch stream this week, Towns explained the hilarious video.

“MJ looks at me, and he goes, ‘I remember what you did to my team. I seen what you did to my team. F–k you!'” said Towns. “And I said, ‘Yeah! I like this energy!’ That’s why you see me right in the video go, ‘Yeah!’

“And the funniest part, MJ is so iconic and so competitive,” Towns added. “He looks back at me and goes, ‘Yeah!'”

Jordan, who owns the Charlotte Hornets, appears to have been upset about his team’s game against Towns and the Wolves on Feb. 15. The Wolves won in overtime 126-120 as Towns led all scorers with 39 points and 15 boards.

The funny interaction with Towns is certainly in character for the famously petty Jordan, who has held grudges against others for much less.
