Kawhi Leonard already gets first Lakers mural in Los Angeles
Kawhi Leonard hasn’t even joined the Lakers yet and he already has a mural in Los Angeles.
Venice-based artist Gustavo Zermeño Jr. put together a mural depicting Leonard in a Lakers jersey and holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The mural was painted on the side of Pizzaoki, a pizza joint by DJ Steve Aoki on the Venice Boardwalk in Southern California. Both Zermeño and Aoki posted photos of the mural on Instagram Saturday after it had been completed.
Acknowledging that Leonard has not yet joined the Lakers, Zermeño said he was “trying to paint it into existence.”
Kawhi just won a championship with the Toronto Raptors and is said to be considering a return to the team even though all last summer reports said he only wanted to play for the Lakers in the future. Reports on Friday night said the Lakers firmly believed they were in the lead to sign Leonard.
Zermeño also made a mural for Anthony Davis when he was acquired by the Lakers in a trade.
