The Golden State Warriors are optimistic that Kevin Durant will be able to return at some point during the NBA Finals, but it will not be in Game 2.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters on Friday that Durant will not return from his calf injury in time to play in Game 2 on Sunday. He also said Golden State losing in Game 1 will not impact Durant’s timeline.
Steve Kerr said Kevin Durant’s availability will have nothing to do Warriors with trailing, 1-0. When KD is healthy and ready to go, he’ll play. Warriors won’t rush him back pic.twitter.com/0XlgK9pm7E

Kerr also stressed the importance of not rushing Durant back because of the risk of him re-injuring the calf.
Steve Kerr on KD's calf injury: "This is not like it's a sore ankle or a sore knee and he can play through it. This is a tricky one. If you re-injure the calf, that's it."

Kerr’s update came on the heels of some good news we heard about Durant’s availability, so perhaps he will only miss one more game. Even if Kerr says Durant will not be rushed back, you have to think he will be even more anxious to play if Golden State loses again in Game 2 at Toronto.
