LeBron, Bronny James being sued for alleged roles in car crash
LeBron and Bronny James are on the court together again … but this time, it is a court filing.
TMZ Sports reports on Wednesday that the Los Angeles Lakers father-and-son duo LeBron and Bronny are being sued over their alleged roles in a 2022 car crash. The report adds that the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County on Tuesday afternoon, hours before the Lakers tipped off the 2024-25 season against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The two plaintiffs, identified as April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen, claim in the lawsuit that they were driving down a Littlerock, Calif. highway in Nov. 2022 when they were slammed into by the Jameses. The plaintiffs also claim that they sustained injuries that will require further medical attention and that their vehicle was damaged and lost value because of the crash. As a result, they are now suing both LeBron and Bronny for unspecified damages.
Littlerock is a small town in Los Angeles County with a population of 1,509 located about 70 miles northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the report doesn’t make any mention of who was alleged to have been driving at the time. But we do know that Bronny, who was born in Oct. 2004, had just turned 18 at the time of the alleged crash.
LeBron and Bronny are now teammates on the Lakers and made history during Tuesday’s opener against Minnesota by becoming the first father-son duo in ever play together in the NBA (which also resulted in a funny visual). Now the famous dad and son are sharing another role — co-defendants.
