Magic Johnson likes seeing Kevin Durant in a Lakers jersey
Magic Johnson knows the NBA is keeping a close eye on him when it comes to discussing star players who are under contract with other teams, but the Los Angeles Lakers executive can’t hide his excitement over Kevin Durant’s impending free agency.
During an appearance on the FOX pregame show at the World Series over the weekend, Magic bragged about how he was able to bring LeBron James to LA. David Ortiz then joked about the Hall of Famer doing the same with Kevin Durant, and FOX ran a graphic that showed Durant in a Lakers uniform. A giddy Johnson exclaimed, “I love that!”

Realizing that he’s on thin ice when it comes to tampering, Johnson joked that he has “already been fined enough.”
In his very brief tenure as the vice president of basketball operations for the Lakers, Johnson has already been hit with multiple tampering fines from the NBA. He probably deserved it the first time with Paul George, but the more recent penalty seemed like the league was just trying to make an example out of him.
With Durant, FOX basically baited him by running the graphic of Durant and LeBron standing next to each other in Lakers uniforms. We’re guessing the NBA will give Magic a break this time.
