An ex-NBA guard has been arrested this week on a troubling charge.

Former All-Defensive selection Eric Bledsoe was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly striking a woman in the face on a Los Angeles-area freeway, TMZ Sports reported. California Highway Patrol officers took Bledsoe into custody around 2:30 AM after receiving a report of a domestic violence incident and finding Bledsoe at a gas station near US-101.

With Bledsoe was a woman suffering from “bruising and swelling to her face.” Bledsoe reportedly refused to give a statement to the officers and was arrested and booked for felony domestic violence.

Jail records show that Bledsoe was held on $50,000 bail. You can read TMZ’s full report on the situation here.

Now 35 years old, Bledsoe was a first-round pick in the 2010 NBA Draft (No. 18 overall). He played in the league for 12 total seasons with the LA Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, and New Orleans Pelicans. Bledsoe averaged 13.7 points and 4.7 assists per game overall in his NBA career and made All-Defensive teams in both 2019 and 2020 as a member of the Bucks.

Bledsoe last appeared in an NBA game in Feb. 2022 and had since spent several years playing in China for the Shanghai Sharks (who were involved in a game-fixing scandal during Bledsoe’s time there). On top of that, Bledsoe had a previous incident of alleged domestic violence in 2022. Bledsoe was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence for supposedly slapping his girlfriend, but the case was declined by the local district attorney’s office days later due to insufficient evidence.
