NBA Hall of Famer has ultimate gesture for Ja Morant
Ja Morant may only be 22 years old, but he already appears to be reserving his spot at the legends table.
Retired Basketball Hall of Famer Allen Iverson had the ultimate gesture for the Memphis Grizzlies star Morant in a tweet on Tuesday. Iverson hung Morant’s jersey on the MVP trophy that he himself won back in 2001.
“Sooner or Later!!! @JaMorant,” Iverson wrote in his caption.

Morant appreciated the gesture and wrote back, “pass the torch OG.”

Iverson’s post comes after Morant’s tour de force on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs. Morant dropped a franchise-record 52 points in a 118-105 victory and made every single highlight reel in the country in the process.
The 11-time All-Star Iverson, who was more of a shooting guard than a point guard, may not be the perfect player comparison for Morant. But he is spot-on that it is only a matter of time before Morant wins MVP. With 27.6 points a game for the 43-20 Grizzlies, Morant is already in that conversation right now. With further development of his game, the fifth ring of Saturn appears to be the limit for Morant.
