Nets trolling Knicks with upcoming Kyrie Irving giveaway?
The Brooklyn Nets appear to be stoking the flames of their crosstown rivalry with the New York Knicks.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported on Saturday that the Nets will be giving away 10,000 Kyrie Irving jerseys when they host the Knicks on Oct. 25, the first meeting of the season between the two teams.
The All-NBA guard Irving, who signed a four-year deal with the Nets in July, had been a top target for the Knicks, both as a free agent and even dating back to when he requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017.
The Nets-Knicks rivalry has definitely been gaining steam in recent months, and it’s hard to see the timing of this giveaway as a case of mere coincidence.
