Omri Casspi hasn’t spoken with Dave Joerger since preseason

New season, new faces, same problems for the Sacramento Kings.

According to a report by Matt George of Cowbell Kingdom, Kings head coach Dave Joerger recently held a team meeting to announce his permanent rotation moving forward. One prominent omission was veteran forward Omri Casspi. When asked if Joerger had provided him with any sort of one-on-one explanation for his exclusion, Casspi said, “We haven’t talked since preseason. It was a team-wide meeting only.”

Casspi, 28, has only made six appearances for the team so far this season, averaging 4.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in a mere 15.3 minutes per game.

There had been some signs of hope that perhaps Joerger, who was hired by the Kings this past offseason, was bringing about something of a positive culture shift in Sacramento. But this latest development (combined with comments like these from other players) makes it all too clear that the Kings are still very much saddled by the dysfunction that has become the trademark of their franchise these last several years.
