Report: Pelicans interested in trading for Iman Shumpert

The New Orleans Pelicans’ desperation for wing depth has them searching far and wide for potential solutions.

Cody Taylor of Basketball Insiders reported this weekend that the Pelicans are interested in acquiring Iman Shumpert from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Pelicans were already paper thin on the wings, and the problem got even worse with the recent revelation that forward Solomon Hill could miss the majority of the coming season with a torn hamstring.

As for Shumpert, he may or may not have been requested a trade from the Cavs this summer. But what we do know is that he has performed poorly these last couple of postseasons and could be marginalized this coming season in Cleveland with the arrivals of Jae Crowder, Jeff Green, and Cedi Osman.

While Shumpert is a bit undersized for the Pelicans’ purposes, he may at least be an upgrade over the swingmen they are currently set to open 2017-18 with.
