Pelicans’ season ticket sales immediately sky-rocketed after draft lottery
Anthony Davis may still want to be traded after the New Orleans Pelicans landed the top overall pick in the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night, but that is not stopping fans from being excited about the future of the team.
According to Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune, the Pelicans took orders for 2,000 new season tickets in the hours after the team landed the No. 1 pick in the draft. That is already twice as many new season ticket sales as they had when they got the top spot in 2012.
In the hours immediately after the Zion news and up until 1 a.m. Wednesday, the @PelicansNBA took orders for approximately 2,000 new season tickets, twice as many as they did after earning the No. 1 pick in 2012 (Anthony Davis).

Now do you see why the Pelicans’ ticket department reacted to the news the way they did?
Whether Davis stays or not, Zion Williamson is considered the most exciting NBA prospect in the draft since LeBron James. The Pelicans would have an incredible young core to build around if Davis re-signs, but Williamson gives them plenty to be excited about even if not. The ticket sales reflect that.
