Steph Curry could not help but chuckle Sunday after Draymond Green made a spicy guarantee on behalf of the entire Golden State Warriors team.
Green was part of the TNT preview show for Sunday’s NBA All-Star game at Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif. During the panel discussion, Green was asked about the Warriors’ recent trade acquisition, Jimmy Butler.
Green said that Butler’s addition has altered the chemistry of the Warriors. He then took it a step further by claiming Butler will help bring the Larry O’Brien Trophy back to the Bay Area.

“[Jimmy Butler] has brought back that belief, and I think we’re going to win the championship. … I’m sorry. I said I think we’re going to win a championship, but I lied. We are going to win the championship,” Green said.
Curry, who won his second NBA All-Star Game MVP on Sunday, was asked during his postgame press conference about Golden State’s outlook coming out of the break.
“I’m excited. I got Draymond on the telecast guaranteeing we’re winning a championship,” Curry said before pausing to laugh. “I love expectations and having something to play for, so he’s lighting a fire for sure.”
As much as Green has done to help the Warriors win four championships since 2015, Curry knows winning another trophy rests mainly on his own shoulders. But Butler’s addition certainly helps. The team has gone 3-1 since Butler’s arrival, with the lone loss being a close overtime game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Draymond did not make the All-Star team this season. But he still generated plenty of attention, both for his polarizing takes and his embarrassing run during Saturday’s NBA Skills Challenge.
