Ticket prices for Cooper Flagg-Bronny James Summer League matchup were absurd

Cooper Flagg and Bronny James are already selling out games … Summer League games, that is.

The Dallas Mavericks rookie Flagg and the Los Angeles Lakers sophomore Bronny met on Thursday for a highly-anticipated Summer League matchup. The game at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev. marked Flagg’s first-ever professional (exhibition) game as well as Bronny’s second game of the summer (after playing at the California Classic in the Bay Area earlier this week).

Thomas & Mack Center was completely sold out for the game, and the ESPN broadcast aired an insane graphic on how the ridiculous the ticket prices were. According to the ESPN graphic, the average price was $223 (with tickets in the 100 level going for over $1,000 and courtside seats going for over $3,000).

Flagg and Bronny did not disappoint during the contest either. They guarded each other for a good chunk of the game and manage to alternate baskets on one another. The two even engaged in a bout of friendly trash talk at one point during the first half.

As the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft as well as one of the most hyped prospects of the 21st century, Flagg’s marketability speaks for itself. Meanwhile, Bronny is far less naturally talented but is still a draw for fans as the son of Lakers superstar LeBron James.

That said, dropping four figures on a Summer League game is more than a little ludicrous no matter how you slice it. But it is clear that Las Vegas loves both Flagg and Bronny (the latter of whom already got a raucous reception in the city during a preseason game last year).
