Tony Allen: Stephen Curry ‘ain’t nothing I ain’t never seen before’

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is going to see a lot of Memphis Grizzlies veteran Tony Allen in the Western Conference semifinals, and we doubt he is overly concerned about that. Allen has always been known as one of the better defenders in the league, but Curry scores on everyone.

In his team’s Game 1 win over the Grizzlies, Curry scored 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting. Allen saw nothing that he was overly concerned about, as evidenced by the comments he made to reporters after practice on Monday.

“He can shoot the ball pretty good and he got a nice handle,” Allen said of Curry, per Nate Stuhlbard of CSNBayArea.com. “But it ain’t nothing I ain’t never seen before.”

That statement from Allen contained the rare triple-negative, but we’re pretty sure he was doing his best to not pump Curry’s tires. Still, Allen was quick to point out that Curry was very deserving of the NBA MVP Award.

“I don’t get a vote, but I acknowledge his MVP status,” Allen said. “It’s well deserved, I wasn’t surprised.”

Curry is much better than “pretty good” at shooting the ball. He’s one of the greatest shooters to ever play, and the 33.8 points he averaged in Golden State’s opening-round series against the New Orleans Pelicans was a reminder of that.

Allen was so focused in Game 1 that he walked directly through a group of children who were performing on the court, so that could be why he’s not worried about Curry. The Grizzlies are hoping that’s the case, because they need all hands on deck.
