Warriors lose after Kevin Durant shot waved off at buzzer

The Golden State Warriors lost to the Houston Rockets on opening night in the NBA Tuesday after a last-second shot by Kevin Durant was waved off upon review.

The Warriors led by nine at the half and by 16 in the third quarter, but Houston stuck around and challenged the Warriors in the fourth quarter. The Rockets finally caught the Warriors and took the lead in the final minute on a pair of free throws made by P.J. Tucker.

Steph Curry attempted a 3-pointer on the Warriors’ final possession for the win and missed, but Durant got the ball from Shaun Livingston and attempted a shot at the buzzer. The shot went in but left his hand a fraction of a second after the buzzer:

And just like that, a team many thought would go unchallenged as they defended their NBA championship lost their first game of the season. This defeat adds a lot of intrigue to the early-going of the year.
