Fan captures incredible video of Guardians’ walk-off home run from his apartment

A fan captured a tremendous video of the Cleveland Guardians’ walk-off home run on Thursday night from his apartment a few buildings away in downtown.

The Guardians beat the New York Yankees 7-5 in 10 innings of ALCS Game 3 on a walk-off 2-run home run by David Fry. Cleveland had blown an initial lead in the 8th when Emmanuel Clase allowed back-to-back home runs, but the Guardians tied it in the bottom of the 9th on a 2-run home run by Jhonkensy Noel.

Fry then came through in the 10th with the walk-off home run.

A fan named Pete Marek, who lives at the Residences at Halle luxury apartment building, captured a video of what the environment was like when Fry connected. You can hear the crack of the bat, the crowd going wild, and the fireworks going off in the great video.

Part of what makes the video so spectacular is that you could see the players celebrating at home plate. Marek zoomed in at the end, and even from a few streets away, you could still get a good view of what happened.

The home run was massive and put the Guardians back in the series. Now the Yankees’ lead has been cut to 2-1.

Bronny James called for flagrant foul in preseason game against Suns

Bronny James nudges Jalen Bridges

Bronny James was called for a flagrant foul during his Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason game against the Phoenix Suns at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Ariz., on Thursday that had people asking questions.

Phoenix was up 103-99 with under four minutes left in the game and Jalen Bridges had the ball. Bridges was going down the sideline in transition. The only defender nearby was James, who didn’t completely go in to contest the layup, nor did he get out of the way.

Instead, James nudged Bridges in the middle of the body as Bridges had gone airborne.

People were asking whether a flagrant foul call was deserved. Flagrant fouls are defined as “unnecessary contact committed by a player against an opponent.” James bumping Bridges certainly was unnecessary contact. Either he should actually try to defend on the play, or he should get out of the way.

The Lakers won the game 128-122 in overtime. James had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 2 fouls in 17 minutes. He went 2/4 from the field and missed both of his free throw attempts.

Saints had a comically bad play in loss to Broncos

Spencer Rattler holds the ball

The New Orleans Saints were hammered 33-10 in a home loss to the Denver Broncos at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., on Thursday night. If you want to know how bad things were for the Saints, look no further than one play from early in the game.

The Saints had the ball at their 30-yard line down 6-0 to the Broncos early in the second quarter. Quarterback Spencer Rattler was lined up in the shotgun formation, took a snap from center, and things went bad in about five different ways thereafter.

First off, the snap was soft and high. Secondly, Rattler mishandled the ball. Third, after picking up the ball, Rattler bumped into a teammate. Fourth, he tried to throw a pass as he was being brought down. Fifth, his fumble was recovered by Denver and taken to the end zone.

The good thing is none of that counted because Denver was offsides on the play.

You’re probably not in the least bit surprised that the Saints ended up punting on that possession.

New Orleans also made a quarterback change late in the game, and Jake Haener provided their only touchdown of the night.

The Saints have lost five in a row since their 2-0 start, while Denver has gone 4-1 since their 0-2 start.

JJ Watt’s post about Justin Fields goes viral

JJ Watt shared a post about Justin Fields on Thursday that went viral.

Fields has been replaced as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback by Russell Wilson, who has finally recovered from his calf injury.

Fields was asked about losing the starting quarterback job despite helping his team go 4-2 to start the season. Fields gave a classy response and said that he didn’t play well enough to keep the job, and that if he had, this wouldn’t have been an issue.

Watt saw Fields’ comments and offered some thoughts on them.

“Man, what an answer from a guy who is 4-2 and gave them a legitimate chance to be 5-1 right now,” Watt wrote regarding Fields.

“Poise, maturity, class.

“Hard to not be a fan.”

Keep in mind that JJ’s brother, TJ, is a star defensive player for the Steelers, so JJ likely keeps a closer eye on the team than others. But there is no denying what JJ said. Fields had a classy and mature response. And you know what? There is still a good chance he can end up starting again at some point.

The Steelers host the Jets on Sunday night. The Jets are 2-4, just traded for Davante Adams, and are desperate for a win.

David Fry beats Yankees with huge walk-off home run in ALCS Game 3

David Fry yells

David Fry did it again for Cleveland.

The man who helped force a Game 5 in the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers came up huge during Game 3 of the ALCS between his Guardians and the New York Yankees on Thursday night.

Fry was facing Yankees closer Clay Schmidt during the bottom of the 10th inning at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio, and had a runner on third with two outs. Fry got a 1-2 hanging sinker from Schmidt and sent it over the high wall in left field for a walk-off 2-run home run.

Fry knew it was gone the moment he hit it and dropped his bat and began to walk down the first base line.

Fry had entered the game in the 7th as a pinch-hitter for Kyle Manzardo, who had also homered in the game. Manager Stephen Vogt ended up getting two home runs from that spot in the lineup.

The Guardians won the game 7-5 and now trail the Yankees 2-1 in the series.

Jonathan Taylor hoping to avoid IR amid ankle injury

Jonathan Taylor is doing his best to avoid a stint on injured reserve as he battles back from an ankle injury.

Taylor left his Indianapolis Colts’ Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth quarter with an ankle sprain. The Colts running back had 88 yards and a touchdown before departing the game.

Taylor has been out since then and did not practice Thursday. But he did talk with the media and expressed confidence that he could beat the typical timeline for a high ankle sprain recovery.

“I know high ankles are usually 4-6 (weeks). But me, attacking different rehabs and injuries. I’m like man, ‘there’s no way.’ So I just got to do everything in my power to keep chopping it down every single day,” Taylor said.

Taylor also said that he was trying hard to avoid a stint on IR.

“I never like to throw that around … that’s definitely not a place you don’t want to be if you don’t have to be there,” Taylor said.

The 25-year-old Taylor has 349 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. He’s in his fifth NFL season and has only played a full regular season once — in 2021 when he led the NFL in attempts (332), rushing yards (1,811) and rushing touchdowns (18). Indianapolis is 3-3 this season and went 2-2 in the games where Taylor played.

Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton torch Emmanuel Clase in ALCS Game 3

Aaron Judge points

Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton came up huge for the New York Yankees against Emmanuel Clase late in ALCS Game 3 against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday night.

Reliever Hunter Gaddis began the top of the 8th inning looking to protect a 3-1 Guardians lead. He got two outs and then walked Juan Soto to bring up Judge. Cleveland decided to make a pitching change and bring in closer Clase, but that plan backfired.

Judge was down 1-2 in the count against Clase but connected on a line drive to the opposite field that sailed out of the park for a tying 2-run home run.

As if that weren’t enough, Stanton joined in on the fun.

Stanton hammered a 1-2 pitch to right-center for a tie-breaking solo home run.

The Yankees’ sluggers completely changed the game. The team went from down 3-1 to up 4-3 in a matter of two swings.

That was Judge’s second home run of the postseason. The home run was Stanton’s third of the postseason, as he also had homers earlier this series and against the Royals in the ALDS. Both players were up to 6 RBIs on the postseason following those home runs.

As for Clase, this is the second time this postseason that he has blown a game. He also gave up a huge 3-run home run to Kerry Carpenter in Game 2 of the ALDS.

5-star QB recruit decommits from Georgia

Jared Curtis in a chair

Five-star quarterback recruit Jared Curtis has decommitted from Georgia, and he has some other schools he is now considering.

Curtis, who is from Nashville, Tenn., shared a note via his X profile on Thursday in which he announced the news of his commitment change.

“The recruiting process has been an exciting time and a huge learning experience for me. I am especially thankful to the coaches at Georgia for their belief in me and for treating me and my family with so much love and support from day one,” Curtis wrote.

“This morning I spoke with Coach Smart and Coach Bobo and let them know that I still love Georgia, but would like to take some more time to explore all my options so I can make the best, most informed decision for my future. I let them know it just doesn’t seem right or fair to stay committed while checking out other programs. I want people to know where I stand and I’ve learned that making big decisions takes time.

“My focus now is taking care of business during the rest of our high school season and being a great teammate and leader. I look forward to making the most of an open recruiting process in the months ahead.”

Curtis had been committed to Georgia since March. 247 Sports’ composite ratings have Curtis listed as the No. 6 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. The Nashville Christian School junior quarterback is listed as the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the class.

Curtis appears to now be considering Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina and USC.

Baker Mayfield hilariously roasts his former college teammate

Baker Mayfield and Mark Andrews starred together at Oklahoma before making it to the NFL and remain close today. They will face off on Monday night as opponents, when Mayfield’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers host Andrews’ Baltimore Ravens in a big Week 7 game.

Mayfield certainly isn’t going easy on Andrews on or off the field. He delivered a pretty hilarious roast of his college teammate on Thursday, mocking Andrews on a whole host of topics.

“Even though Mark and I are best friends, him and I don’t talk in season. He’s a weirdo. He can’t exactly separate friendship and football. He struggles with that on a year-to-year basis, so there’s a few months at a time when we’re friends again. It hurts my feelings. Guy was in my wedding, won’t talk to me. It hurts my feelings.

“He’s changed. He’s got a very serious girlfriend. Some people think he’s gone soft. I’m not one of those people, but people are murmuring. There’s whispers out there.”

Mayfield is clearly having a blast taking on his buddy. The quarterback can rest assured that Andrews still has his back, even if they’re apparently not on speaking terms right now.

The Bucs and the Ravens both enter Monday’s game at 4-2. The two teams aren’t rivals by any stretch, but bragging rights may be on the line for these two players in particular.

Terry Bradshaw has interesting take on Steelers’ QB situation

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a quarterback decision to make for Sunday, but Terry Bradshaw thinks they should stick with what has worked so far.

The Steelers legend told TMZ Sports that he believes the team should stick with Justin Fields after a 4-2 start, even though Russell Wilson is now fully healthy.

“I’m gonna stay with Fields,” Bradshaw said. “I think he’s played really good. He’s such a great athlete, he can throw, and I think he just fits the team he has right now. … He’s played well enough to keep the job, in my opinion.”

On one hand, the Steelers are 4-2 and well-positioned in the AFC North. However, the Steelers acquired Wilson with the intention of starting him, and it certainly appears that they plan to do so for Week 7 against the New York Jets.

Fields has completed 66.3% of his passes for 1,106 yards, 5 touchdowns and just 1 interception. He has 231 rushing yards and another 5 scores on the ground. Though he has avoided big mistakes, he also has not really electrified the Pittsburgh offense, which even he seemed to admit on Thursday.
