David Montgomery definitely grew up watching “Even Stevens” and “The Proud Family.”
The Detroit Lions running back Montgomery went viral during Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys for the fantastic touchdown celebration that he did. After finishing off a Lions drive with a one-yard score in the second quarter, Montgomery did a Disney Channel-themed gesture.
That is a nod to some of the classic Disney Channel promos from the 2000s. Those promos would features characters from the network’s shows saying, “I’m ______ and you’re watching Disney Channel.” They would then use a CGI wand to draw the Mickey Mouse head-shaped logo of Disney Channel.
In a post to their official X page, the Lions confirmed that Disney Channel was indeed the inspiration for Montgomery’s celebration.

Things are going from bad to worse for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars fell to 1-5 on Sunday with a blowout 35-16 loss to the Chicago Bears at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The noises that came out of the team afterward were just as concerning as the performance.
Jaguars safety Andre Cisco gave a particularly concerning interview after the game. The fourth-year safety said the defense had essentially “quit” during the loss, and added that he could tell early in the game that the defense was not playing as a cohesive unit.
#Jaguars safety Andre Cisco after today's loss: "How should I say this…. A lot of quit."
“I just felt like it was, how should I say this, a lot of quit,” Cisco said. “Last line of defense, in a situation like that, you can feel when we’re playing as one and when we’re not. Felt very early in the game, maybe at halftime, that we weren’t playing as one.
“Practice is great. We come to practice, hard hats every day, attentive. It’s not a schedule thing or a practice thing. Sunday is when it counts. We understand that’s the hardest part, but there’s no excuse for lack of effort. That’s literally the least you can do is come out and give effort. I’m not calling anybody out. I’m saying that to myself, too. That’s always the mindset. Come out, give your best. If it’s not perfect, it’s not perfect.”
Quotes like that are not going to do much to dispel the notion that coach Doug Pederson is losing the locker room, even though he has disputed that. The team is 1-5 and looking lifeless, and with some difficult games ahead, there is no reason to believe things are about to get better.
Cisco has spent his entire career with the Jaguars. He was a starter when the team went to the playoffs two years ago, so he certainly knows what success feels like, and how far away the Jaguars appear to be from achieving it.
Cooper Manning attended Saturday’s Texas-Oklahoma rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, and he was dressed appropriately. Some may even feel he went overboard.
Cooper, the eldest of Archie and Olivia Manning’s three sons, was wearing a gigantic cowboy hat.
The brim for the hat was so big that it looked cartoonish.
Was Cooper trying to make a fashion statement? Just trying to stay shady in the sun? Or was he trying to prevent people from recognizing him?
Cooper’s son Arch plays quarterback for Texas, though the redshirt freshman did not see action in the Longhorns’ 34-3 win over the Sooners as Quinn Ewers returned from an injury. Arch Manning has passed for 902 yards and 9 touchdowns and rushed for 3 touchdowns this season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are adjusting on the fly ahead of the NLCS.
On Sunday, the Dodgers officially announced their roster for the upcoming NLCS series against the New York Mets. Most notably, veteran outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is a part of the NLCS roster (with Miguel Rojas being left off due to an injury suffered in the NLDS against San Diego).
Kiermaier, 34, is a four-time Gold Glove Award winner who hit .203 over 34 total regular season appearances for the Dodgers this year. The 12-year MLB veteran Kiermaier has said that he intends to retire after the season, so now he will be getting a chance to contribute to one final playoff run.
With Tommy Edman replacing Rojas at shortstop and Enrique Hernandez stepping into Edman’s spot in center field, Kiermaier will give the Dodgers an excellent option as a late-inning defensive replacement. But the constant reshuffling of the lineup due to injuries has to be getting tiresome for the Dodgers, who also just had to leave a crucial reliever off the NLCS roster.

The Cleveland Browns turned in yet another horrendous offensive performance on Sunday, and one particular stat that went viral shows just how bad things have gotten for Deshaun Watson and company.
The Browns fell to 1-5 on the season with a 20-16 to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. At one point during the second half, the FOX broadcast pointed out that Cleveland had not converted on third down in their last 26 tries.
The Browns are 0-for-26 on their last 26 third downs with Deshaun Watson under center, per the FOX broadcast. That sounds like a made-up stat. What in the world…
That is where the streak ended, as the Browns snapped a 0-for-26 streak by finally picking up a first down on third down. The fact that it took that long, however, is mind-blowing.
There were some other stats that trickled out from Cleveland’s latest loss that were also pretty shocking. As ESPN’s Field Yates noted, the Browns are the first NFL team since 2014 to score fewer than 20 points in each of their first six games.
The Browns have now become the first team in 10 years to score under 20 points in each of its first 6 games of the season.
Cleveland has now scored once in its last 29 drives.
Watson, who is playing under a fully guaranteed $230 million contract, has not thrown for more than 200 yards in a game. Despite that, head coach Kevin Stefanski said once again on Sunday that he is not making a quarterback change.
Stefanski asked if the Browns will stick with Deshaun Watson.

Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell pulled a hilariously petty move at the start of Sunday’s Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Lions were facing the Cowboys in a road game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for the second consecutive season, and Campbell seemingly decided to make reference to how last season’s game controversially finished.
The very first Lions offensive play from scrimmage involved offensive lineman Dan Skipper reporting as an eligible receiver.
On the VERY first offensive play for the Lions today, they report #70, Dan Skipper, as an eligible receiver.
Skipper does that on a semi-regular basis for the Lions, but this certainly felt like a reference to the controversial two-point conversion the Lions executed in a Week 17 game last December.
Obviously, there is no real comparison between that play and anything the Lions were trying to pull to open Sunday’s game. Campbell has done things like this before, however, so given the context, this probably was not a coincidence.

Things are not going very swimmingly in Tennessee right about now.
The Titans lost again in Week 6, falling to the division rival Indianapolis Colts, who were once again without both Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor, by a 20-17 final. The defeat dropped Tennessee to 1-4 on the year.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley expressed some real frustration with his role. Ridley finished the day with zero catches, albeit on eight targets (most of which came in the second half). During his media session, Ridley said that the team had to get him involved earlier on in the game.
“I need something in the beginning of the f–king game too,” said Ridley. “S–t is getting f–king crazy for me. It is what it is. I sucked today, and I gotta be better. But I gotta get the ball a little earlier in the game so I can be in the game and here with the team so I can play well also.”
Here is the full video (but obviously be warned about the bad language).

The ex-first-round pick Ridley is former All-Pro who once posted a 1,374-yard season with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020. But in his first season with the Titans, he now has a dismal nine catches on 27 targets for 141 yards and a touchdown through five games.
Though Ridley dropped some catchable balls on Sunday against the Colts, he clearly feels that he would be able to get into a better rhythm by being fed earlier on in the game. But that may be a tough ask of a Titans team that has featured some very uninspiring quarterback play to this point of the season.

Peyton Manning is all over the NFL record books when it comes to career passing statistics, but there is one record he holds that he really hopes will be broken.
Manning threw 28 interceptions during his rookie season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2003, which is the most in a single season by a rookie. Manning played in all 16 games that season as his Colts struggled to a 3-13 record. Though he tossed 28 picks, it wasn’t all bad for Manning, who also passed for 3,739 yards and 26 touchdowns.
But Manning keeps a good sense of humor about the mark and is hoping it will finally be broken by a rookie. He talked about the matter during a visit with “Bussin’ With the Boys” last month.
He joked that it’s amazing the record hasn’t been broken yet, especially considering there’s an extra regular season game.
“Which is amazing with 17 games now. Mahomes is breaking every other record. Why can’t we break that record? The problem is, when they struggle early with picks, they take them out. Leave ’em in there. Let ’em learn!” Manning joked.
Peyton also joked that his brother Eli would have broken the record easily, but he only played in six games as a rookie.
Caleb Williams put together a big statistical game in his Chicago Bears’ 35-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on Sunday, but the quarterback still had an embarrassing blunder.
Williams was under pressure and just trying to get rid of a pass. He ended up throwing the ball right into the face mask of offensive guard Matt Pryor.
That looked like quite a doink. Hopefully Pryor didn’t have a headache from that for the long flight back from London.
Williams went 23/29 for 226 yards with 4 touchdowns and an interception in the win. He also rushed for 56 yards. And he should be pleased that he now has his version of the infamous Mark Sanchez blunder.

Winning an Olympic gold medal apparently isn’t the biggest highlight of Noah Lyles’ 2024.
The American sprinting star Lyles announced in a joint post with his girlfriend Junelle Bromfield that they are now engaged. According to the post, Lyles formally proposed to Bromfield on Saturday. Take a look below.
“To My Future Wife I Will Love You Forever,” Lyles wrote in the post.
Lyles, 27, and Bromfield, 26, have been together since 2022. Bromfield is an Olympic sprinter herself, hailing from Jamaica and winning a bronze medal in the women’s 4×400 relay during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Their relationship was briefly touched on in the Netflix series “Sprint.”
The six-time world champion Lyles is also now a three-time Olympic medalist after this year’s Paris Games (during which he won gold in the men’s 100m and bronze in the men’s 200m). While he usually makes the headlines for his feuds with other pro athletes, the vibes are now much more wholesome for Lyles with the exciting news of his engagement to Bromfield.
