It’s safe to say that Andy Ruiz Jr is enjoying his victory lap.
Speaking with reporters on Saturday, Ruiz Jr, who stunned Anthony Joshua earlier this month in a huge upset to win the unified world heavyweight title, had some trash talk for Joshua in anticipation of their next meeting.
“The rematch is going to be the same. I am going to be more prepared and more ready,” he said, per BBC Sport. “I know his flaws. I can do a lot better. The only thing that he can do is just run around, he’s not good at boxing.

“People thought I wasn’t going to do anything, I was too big, too overweight,” Ruiz Jr continued. “I don’t want to say all the things I am going to change. There is going to be a lot of changing, I am going to come at a better weight this time. It’s going to be a hell of a fight.”
Joshua, who was a perfect 22-0 before his loss to Ruiz Jr, had many of his weaknesses exposed during the Jun. 1 bout, particularly his chin and stamina.
The rematch clause between the two has already been triggered, meaning that Round 2 will definitely happen at some point. There has been some haggling over where the rematch might take place, but Ruiz Jr is clearly relishing the moment for now.
