Floyd Mayweather sends positive note to Deontay Wilder after first loss

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Deontay Wilder used to share something awesome in common prior to Saturday night: they were both undefeated boxers. But after losing to Tyson Fury in their rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this weekend, Wilder can no longer boast a perfect record.

Mayweather understands how physically and mentally tough it is to step in the boxing ring — and put an undefeated record on the line — so he sent a thoughtful note via Instagram Sunday night to Wilder.

Win, Lose or Draw…. Deontay @BronzeBomber is our brother that has accomplished many triumphs and as a community we should all uplift and support him throughout it all. No matter what, you're still a winner in my eyes, King!

That’s an awesome note from Mayweather. Wilder shouldn’t be mocked for losing, though he wasn’t so kind to Anthony Joshua after the British boxer’s first loss. The guy is a great, fun boxer to watch, and he happened to lose to a great heavyweight in Fury. Keep in mind that Fury remains unbeaten in his career as well.

Wilder is still a top three heavyweight in the world, along with Fury and Joshua, and there is absolutely no shame in that. Now, if we could just get Fury and Joshua to fight so that Wilder could face the winner, we’d really have something.
