Mike Tyson’s fight with Jake Paul will not go ahead as scheduled after all.

Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions said in a statement that the scheduled July 20 fight would be postponed due to Tyson’s recent health issues. Doctors recommended that Tyson limit himself to minimal training over the next several weeks, necessitating the postponement.

A new date for the fight will be announced by June 7.

“Mike is expected to return to his full training schedule in the coming weeks and is eager to get back in the ring,” the statement said. “MVP anticipates rescheduling the match to later this year at AT&T Stadium, and we look forward to an exciting and well-prepared contest between these two exceptional athletes.”

Tyson had previously suggested he was still ready as ever to fight Paul, but doctors recommended otherwise. Fortunately, it does not sound like those who were looking forward to it will have to wait too long to see it.
