Oscar De La Hoya, Jay Z bet $100,000 on Canelo Alvarez-Miguel Cotto fight
Boxing promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Jay Z are doing more than supporting their boxers ahead of the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto on Nov. 21. They have decided to make a friendly wager on it, too.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six and backed by Yahoo’s Kevin Iole, De La Hoya and Jay Z have bet $100,000 on the fight’s outcome.
If De La Hoya’s fighter Alvarez wins, the rap mogul will donate $100,000 to White Memorial Medical Center’s cancer unit. If Jay Z/Roc Nation Sports fighter Cotto wins, De La Hoya will donate $100,000 to the Shawn Carter Foundation.
Canelo, who is 45-1-1 and has looked great since losing to Floyd Mayweather, is favored over the 35-year-old Puerto Rican. But we know Jay Z isn’t about to back down from a friendly wager supporting his boxer.
