After a poor showing in Monaco, Max Verstappen reminded everyone that he is still the driver to beat in F1 by winning the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Despite dealing with mechanical issues that forced his car to retire early during free practice, as well as suspension issues during the race, Verstappen was able to take advantage of a Safety Car midway through the race and eventually overtake Lando Norris who pitted a few laps later.

Finishing behind Verstappen were Norris and George Russell.

McLaren continued to demonstrate that they can challenge Red Bull for the drivers and constructors championship. On the other hand, in a week where Ferrari could have overtaken Red Bull in the driver’s championship with the right outcome, Ferrari failed miserably. Both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were unable to finish the race and netted zero points.

Unlike Ferrari, Mercedes seems to be making steps in the right direction. Despite finishing third, Russell was able to secure pole position during qualifying, and Lewis Hamilton was able to finish fourth.

Also, after taking a public lashing from Jacques Villeneuve that he no longer belonged in F1, Daniel Riccardo qualified fifth and was able to secure constructors points for his team by finishing fifth.

Next up on the F1 schedule is the Spanish Grand Prix where Red Bull has been dominant recently.
