Texas Tech beat rival Texas in the opener of a 3-game series in Lubbock on Friday night on an incredible walk-off play.
The Red Raiders blew an early 3-1 lead and fell behind 4-3 in the top of the eighth, but then they scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game. Things went to extras and they were tied at four in the 10th.
Texas Tech led off the bottom of the 10th with a pair of walks and then the runners moved to second and third on a sac bunt. The next batter struck out, making it runners on second and third with two outs.
Kurt Wilson then decided to end the game. He was the runner on third and made a break for home, taking advantage of Longhorns reliever Aaron Nixon, who wasn’t paying attention.
This ending is spectacular:

What a thrilling way to end an extra-innings game.
This other angle shows how Nixon completely missed him:

Nixon was so focused on himself that he didn’t even bother to check the runner at third. He better make some changes to his approach otherwise runners are going to steal on him all day.
