Dick Vitale provides welcome update on his health
Legendary college basketball announcer Dick Vitale is offering a very encouraging update about his health this week.
The 82-year-old Vitale revealed on Tuesday that his latest PET scan showed that he is now cancer-free.
“OMG ALL THE PRAYERS many of u have sent have been answered as DR Brown who heads my cancer TEAM called & said PET SCAN came back that NO CANCER is showing,” Vitale tweeted. “I feel like a coach playing for the Final 4 has a PTPer hit a shot at buzzer. My MARCH MADNESS starts with a W baby!”

That is truly awesome news for Vitale, who has spent over four decades on the air calling college games for ESPN. He announced in October that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, two months after he underwent a procedure to remove a melanoma.
Vitale will not be back in the booth this year due to a separate health issue. But he was able to provide one of the most touching on-air moments of the year prior to that and appears to be well on track to return for the 2022-23 college season.
