Jerry Stackhouse offered a harsh quote on Tuesday night regarding the state of Vanderbilt basketball.
Stackhouse’s Commodores lost at home 82-78 to Florida to fall to 14-15 on the season. They are now 6-11 in SEC play and have lost three games in a row.
But what stings the most is Vandy was up by five with 44 seconds left (78-73) and blew the game. The Gators scored the final nine points to win.

Stackhouse, who is in his third season as Vanderbilt’s head coach, said it felt like they were “living in a nightmare.”

It’s easy to understand why he feels that way. When you blow a 5-point lead with 44 seconds left, that is crushing.
Vandy has improved its winning percentage in each season under Stackhouse, including this one. They had a good chance to get over .500 this season but gave the game away.
