The administrators at Loyola Chicago want you to know that no, Sister Jean did not give up on the team by leaving early.
In a feisty email to Josh Peter of USA Today Sports, Loyola assistant athletic director for communications Bill Behrns said that Sister Jean’s early departure was standard operating procedure — and chided everyone who thought otherwise.
“I cannot believe anyone would insinuate she gave up on these kids,” Behrns said. “How utterly disgusting.”

Behrns said Sister Jean left her courtside perch early so she could greet all the players in the tunnel as the game ended — “just as she has for every other game, win or lose.”
It sounds like Sister Jean had a legitimate reason for ducking out early. That didn’t stop the memes, however.
