Penny Hardaway’s son has decided on his next school after deciding to leave Memphis.

Ashton Hardaway committed to Saint Mary’s for next season, the school confirmed Tuesday. The move comes after he entered the transfer portal following his freshman year with Memphis.

Hardaway appeared in 30 games with three starts in his lone season at Memphis. He averaged 2.3 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game but was rarely on the court. His playing time was quite limited under his father, which may have been a factor in his decision to transfer.

Saint Mary’s is coming off a 26-8 season that saw them win both the WCC regular-season title and conference tournament championship. They lost several key players, including top scorer Aidan Mahaney, and are looking to the likes of Hardaway to replace their departures and keep the Gaels competitive in 2024-25.
