Tom Izzo’s son Steven receives loud cheers at end of blowout win over Michigan
The Michigan State Spartans beat up on arch-rival Michigan on Sunday, and things were so one-sided that the Spartans’ human equivalent of a victory cigar made an appearance.
Coach Tom Izzo’s walk-on son Steven made an appearance in the final 30 seconds, getting a rousing ovation from the Breslin Center crowd.
Steven Izzo just checked into a Michigan State-Michigan game, so things went pretty well for the Spartans. 87-69 final, and it was never a little in doubt.

When the freshman plays, it’s confirmation that Michigan State has already won. This was his eighth appearance of the season, all of which have come in blowout wins, and never lasting for more than two minutes.
Still, Steven Izzo is among the most popular players among the crowd, and the fans urge him to shoot just about every time he touches the basketball. The day he actually makes one like John Calipari’s son once did, the place is going to go nuts.
