UCLA star Johnny Juzang missed game after getting hurt in bizarre way
Johnny Juzang is submitting a competitive bid for the strangest injury of the college basketball season.
The star UCLA guard missed Saturday’s game against Washington due to a hip injury. Head coach Mick Cronin revealed to reporters that Juzang had fallen off a scooter while going around campus.
“It’s the year of unbelievable,” said Cronin, per Ben Bolch of the LA Times. “Let’s just get it all over before March now. You can’t even make it up. Literally, you can’t make that up.”
The junior Juzang is the leading scorer this season for the No. 12-ranked Bruins, averaging 17.9 points a game. UCLA was able to overcome Juzang’s absence against Washington though and won easily by the final of 76-50.
Strangely enough, Juzang is not even the first mover in the scooter injury space. We once saw another college athlete get hurt in a scooter mishap.
