Chris Beard had to listen to ruthless taunts from Texas Tech fans when he returned Lubbock last month. The Texas coach was clearly in no mood for the same after his team’s win over Oklahoma on Tuesday night.
As Beard was leaving the court following the Longhorns’ 80-78 win, an Oklahoma fan yelled, “Chris Beard, you’re a traitor!” Rather than ignore it, Beard calmly walked over to the fan and confronted him.

It’s unclear what Beard said to the Sooners fan, but the exchange was very brief. The fan certainly didn’t look like he expected Beard to acknowledge him, let alone confront him face-to-face about the heckling.
Beard spent five seasons as the head coach at Texas Tech. He helped the Red Raiders reach the NCAA Tournament three times, including a championship game appearance in 2019. He then took the Texas job this season. Texas Tech fans were not happy, and they had an enthusiastic way of showing it a few weeks ago (video here).
Beard expected the hostile treatment from fans of his former school, but apparently he drew the line at Oklahoma fans getting in on the fun.
