Wisconsin QB Alex Hornibrook enters transfer portal

Wisconsin starting quarterback Alex Hornibrook is leaving the program.

The Badgers confirmed Wednesday that Hornibrook has entered the NCAA transfer portal after three seasons as the team’s starting quarterback.

Hornibrook is coming off a rather middling junior year that saw him throw 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in nine games. He also struggled with head injuries for a portion of the season. He went 26-6 as the team’s starter. 2017 will go down as his best year, as he threw for 25 touchdowns for a 13-1 team.

Wisconsin’s quarterback situation will likely be wide open after Hornibrook departs. Jack Coan got four starts last season when Hornibrook was injured, but four-star freshman recruit Graham Mertz could be a factor as well.
