Anu Solomon disappointed Autzen Stadium wasn’t louder
Oregon played poorly against Arizona on Thursday night, which is something its fans are not accustomed to. The Ducks entered the game as the No. 2 team in the nation and a BCS National Championship favorite for many, and the 50,000-plus at Autzen Stadium were likely stunned to see their team trailing 24-14 heading into the fourth quarter. According to Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon, that resulted in a rather quiet playing environment.
Solomon called out Oregon’s fans after the game, noting that Thursday night’s environment wasn’t nearly as intimidating as he expected.
“Honestly, it wasn’t as loud as I expected,” Solomon said, per Daniel Berk of the Arizona Daily Star. “I was kinda disappointed.”
Despite having a capacity that is roughly half the size of some of the larger college football venues in the country, Autzen Stadium is known as one of the tougher places to play. Perhaps the fans, like the team, weren’t up for the game as much as they should have been. Ducks fans are used to watching their team light it up with exciting plays like this. There wasn’t a whole lot of that on Thursday night, and it could be costly in the BCS standings.
