Ex-Maryland coach seemingly takes shot at DJ Durkin
The University of Maryland caved to public pressure on Wednesday by firing head football coach DJ Durkin a day after reinstating him from his administrative leave, and one of the men who held the position before Durkin seems to think the school made the right choice.
On Thursday morning, current UConn and former Maryland head coach Randy Edsall sent a cryptic tweet that sure looked like it was his way of chiming in on the Durkin situation.
“When you’re the Head Coach, you’re the Head Coach 24/7. No matter what, it’s on your watch, and to a degree, it’s your problem.”-Bill Belichick

Maryland initially decided to stick with Durkin after an investigation determined the culture he created with the school’s football program should not be considered toxic. That doesn’t change the fact that the school admitted a 19-year-old player who died of heat stroke during the offseason did not receive proper care.
After announcing Durkin had been reinstated earlier in the week, Maryland faced tremendous outcry, including from several elected officials. It would appear that Edsall agrees with those who believe Durkin deserved to lose his job.
