FSU fan raising money for ‘Keep Al Golden’ banner to fly over stadium during game

The Hurricanes are 3-0, but the fan base has apparently had enough of head coach Al Golden.

Miami was showered with boos during last week’s game as the team allowed Nebraska to score 23 fourth-quarter points to force overtime, before ultimately coming out on top. Prior to the Hurricanes’ game against FAU, a banner flew overhead that read “Make Miami Great Again — Butch Davis 2016.”

When the Hurricanes travel up to Tallahassee in October for a meeting with rival Florida State, another banner may be awaiting Golden. This one, however, will be in support of him.

Joseph Johnson, a Florida State Fan, has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for a sign that reads “Keep Al Golden,” which would fly over Doak Campbell Stadium during the game.

“Al Golden has done a terrific job in keeping Miami irrelevant, Cane fans want him gone. However in Tallahassee we love Coach Golden, that’s why we want to show our love in 3 weeks when the canes come to Tallahassee, with a banner that will fly over the stadium…for an hour.” Johnson wrote on the page that currently has reached $225 of the $500 goal.

Golden has yet to beat Florida State as head coach of the Hurricanes football program, so that’s definitely incentive for fans of the Seminoles to do their best to keep him around. The way things are going for Golden, Miami could beat Florida State and that still may not ease the tension in South Florida.
