Johnny Manziel questioned for having courtside seats to Mavericks-Heat game

December 21, 2012 by Steve DelVecchio • Comments

Johnny Manziel was spotted courtside enjoying the Miami Heat’s win over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night, and naturally his appearance has raised some questions. Since we live in an era where improper benefits have become as big a part of college football as missed field goals, it should hardly come as a surprise that folks wondered if Manziel was breaking any rules.

Manziel took to Twitter to respond to those skeptics, informing his followers that he bought himself the courtside seats as a birthday gift. He turned 20 on December 6.

Courtside seats in Dallas sell for around $1,000 a piece on Stub Hub, so that was quite nice of Johnny to treat himself that well. After the game, Manziel was lucky enough to be able to pose for a couple of pictures with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade:

Since winning the Heisman earlier this month, Manziel has become a full-blown celebrity. He has appeared on David Letterman’s show and posed with NBA superstars other than King James and D-Wade. And if that wasn’t enough, he already had an incredibly hot girlfriend.

Manziel certainly needs to be careful, given that he is only entering his sophomore season. He has a very bright future ahead of him at Texas A&M, and the last thing he would want to do is jeopardize the program or his career by getting wrapped up in the life of the pros. We have seen NBA owners get slapped with fines for seemingly harmless discussions with college athletes, but that was within the same sport. I’m not saying Manziel has done anything wrong, but there’s a world of temptation out there waiting to gobble him up. Hopefully Johnny Football can stay on track.
