Lane Kiffin has a suggestion for Tennessee’s field sponsor
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has some suggestions for one of his SEC rivals if they’re looking for ideas on who to use as their on-field sponsor in 2024.
The NCAA on Thursday approved a new rule allowing teams to display advertisements on the field. That has led to a lot of speculation — some serious, some tongue-in-cheek — about which brands might be good sponsorship fits for certain schools. That is particularly true within the SEC, with one post asking fans which brand Tennessee should look to have at midfield of Neyland Stadium next year.
Kiffin, who has a notoriously rocky relationship with Tennessee, had his own suggestion: French’s mustard.

Kiffin infamously left Tennessee after just one season in order to take the USC coaching job 15 years ago, and has never really lived it down. He coached at Tennessee as an opponent for the first time since then in 2021, and some late-game controversy ended with Tennessee fans throwing a whole host of bizarre items on the field, including a bottle of mustard.
Ever since the incident, Kiffin has found the whole thing amusing, so this is nothing out of the ordinary. The French’s sponsorship might be too on the nose, though. Might we suggest a golf ball brand instead?
