Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott ‘more optimistic’ about playing football in 2020

Pac-12

We’re hearing mixed signals on the status of college football for 2020, but one prominent NCAA leader seems to be growing more optimistic as time passes.

Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott feels “more optimistic” about the chances of playing college football in 2020, via Jon Wilner of Bay Area News Group. He said the NFL’s schedule release, the announcements from multiple schools of their intention to reopen for fall with students, and discussions with the Pac-12’s medical advisors led to that stance.

Those latter discussions, Scott said, left the Pac-12 commissioner “feeling like there’s a good chance we’ll get there.”

On-campus instruction is a must, as the NCAA has made clear. If Pac-12 universities are conducting in-person instruction, that’s a big step. Of course, this is a long way off, we don’t know if other conference will follow suit, and we don’t know where we’ll be in three months. The optimism is nice, though.
