
Longtime former Tennessee Volunteers announcer John Ward died on Wednesday, the school announced.
Ward was the “Voice of the Vols” from 1965-1999, announcing the team’s basketball and football games. He served as the announcer for the 1998 football team that won the national championship.

He was well known for his “Give him six … touchdown, Tennessee!” touchdown call.
Prior to getting into broadcasting for the Vols, Ward worked in advertising and radio.
