Louisville quarterback Miller Moss made one of the worst plays of the season on Saturday, and it may have been the difference in winning and losing for his team.
Moss threw a horrendous interception midway through the third quarter of Louisville’s 30-27 overtime loss to Virginia at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium in Louisville, Ky. The senior transfer from USC was being dragged to the ground by two defenders when he made the ill-advised decision to throw the ball away without looking.
The pass went directly to Virginia linebacker Kam Robinson, who intercepted it and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown. Robinson’s touchdown gave the Cavaliers a 21-14 lead.

Quarterbacks are taught to take the sack in a situation like that. Moss, who is in his fifth college season and started nine games for USC last season, should be experienced enough to avoid plays like that. He must have thought he had a receiver open, but he instead made a game-altering mistake.
Louisville was able to come back, but No. 24 Virginia outscored them 6-3 in overtime to win the game. Moss would love to have that abysmal throw back.
The loss was the first of the season for the Cardinals. Moss finished 34/48 for 329 yards, 2 touchdowns and the interception.
