Report: Louisville to hire Scott Satterfield as head coach
The Louisville Cardinals have their new football coach.
According to Jake Lourim and Danielle Lerner of the Louisville Courier Journal, the Cardinals will hire Appalachian State coach Scott Satterfield as their new head football coach. The hire will be confirmed at a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
Terms of the contract are not public, but the Cardinals will have to pay a relatively paltry $425,000 buyout to hire Satterfield away from Appalachian State.
Satterfield is Louisville’s second choice. They originally targeted Purdue’s Jeff Brohm, but he rejected their offer to stay with his current employer. Satterfield immediately emerged as the second choice, and the process was wrapped up relatively quickly. He’s been very successful at Appalachian State, posting a 51-24 career record, but will be making a big jump as he moves to Louisville.
