The Michigan State Spartans are off to a fine start in their rebuild after landing a highly-rated quarterback in the transfer portal.
Former Oregon State quarterback Aidan Chiles told Pete Thamel of ESPN that he is transferring to Michigan State. Chiles follows coach Jonathan Smith, who left Oregon State to take the Michigan State job last month.

Chiles is regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in the portal this offseason. A four-star recruit, he saw limited action as a freshman, but was utilized frequently enough to score seven total touchdowns — four passing and three rushing — for the Beavers. He would be favored to start immediately for the Spartans, who saw their entire quarterback room enter the portal at the end of the season.
The Spartans are coming off a 4-8 season full of upheaval that saw coach Mel Tucker fired over sexual harassment allegations. Smith was brought in to clean things up, and he appears to be off to a fine start in that regard.
